Privacy Policy
This policy describes how Friction (the Android app) and this website handle information. Friction is designed to work on your device without an account and without our servers receiving your personal content.
Friction Android app
What we collect and store on your device
Friction stores data only on your phone, in local app storage:
- Your choices in the app — for example which apps you add to your block list, intervention settings, and related preferences.
Friction does not keep a persistent log of interventions or scroll events. Temporary in-memory state may be used while the app is running (for example to number on-screen messages in the current session), but it is not written to long-term storage for analytics or history.
Friction does not require you to create an account. We do not use the app to sell your data or to show advertising. The app does not send your scroll content, messages, or browsing history to us.
Permissions
Friction uses Android permissions you grant (such as Accessibility Service and “display over other apps”) only to detect scroll-related events in apps you choose and to show on-screen interventions. You can revoke these permissions in Android settings at any time.
How long we keep your data (retention)
- Block list and settings — Kept until you change or remove them in the app, or until app data is cleared or the app is removed (see below).
How you can delete your data
You can remove Friction-related data from your device in any of these ways:
- In the app — Remove individual app blocks or adjust settings; data tied to those choices is updated or removed as you do so.
- Clear app storage — On your device, open Settings → Apps → Friction → Storage (wording may vary by device) and use Clear storage or Clear data. This deletes locally stored app data Friction has saved.
- Uninstall the app — Removing Friction from your device deletes its local data from that device.
Because Friction does not use a cloud account for core functionality, there is no separate server-side copy of your app data for us to delete on your behalf.
Children
Friction is not directed at children under 13. If you believe we should remove information collected in error, contact us using the details below.
This website (friction.narveer.dev)
Pages on this domain may use standard web analytics (Google Analytics) to understand how the site is used — for example aggregated visit counts. That processing is subject to Google’s terms and privacy policy. The marketing site does not collect the same kind of in-app data as the Friction app.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. For material changes, we may also note them on the app listing or this site where appropriate.
